However, PC starters and upgraders tend to get confounded with specs and confused with the wide array of options. Things get overwhelming when you are to decide what CPU, GPU, or peripherals are compatible and give your money’s worth. It goes with choosing what computer case to house your valuable hardware. You may shrug the idea off as unimportant but covering up your unit with carefully picked case gives it its final change.

However, before you get lost in technical wilderness, computer cases are also called chassis, base unit, system unit, tower, or cabinet. It is an enclosure that houses most of the interior components of your PC, except the mouse, keyboard, and display monitor.

Computer cases are made up of several materials often steel and aluminum, and sometimes plastic. With the promise of customization, we now see personal-built cases made of wood, glass, or even Lego bricks to achieve more unique setups.

Towers usually come in black metal enclosures, but the race towards custom building allows manufacturers to experiment on design, color, and additional features. PC cases are categorized by the size of the motherboards they can accommodate and often referred to by their size or form factors.

A sure shot way of rallying a perfect-looking PC case is by careful consideration of its design, color, and functionality. Cases and its mounting positions are also varied as you may have imagined which include standard top deck, half deck sizes and so on. It is thus important to understand that the size of your motherboard, being the largest component of a unit determines the form factor of the case.

Rack-mounted or blade servers should fit in specific enclosures; hence, PC users must give high regard with precise external dimensions. For starters, PC case should allow component upgrades in the future thus larger build is recommended. By doing so, your case can be reused to fit additional hard drive or upgraded video card. Upgrading is one of the aspects PC user’s fair best compared to laptop users since it is quite difficult to splice up the latter.

A custom-built unit should greatly allow the highest and widest functionality available. Its main function is not just decorative but to hold internal components together and protect its sensitive electronic parts. Therefore, it is important for the PC case to support most frequently used elements both in its front and back regions.

These include power button, a number of USB ports, and an audio outlet for headphones, drive bays for optical drives, card readers, and hard drives, and connections for other peripherals. Be familiar with the layout to understand where peripheral connectors, expansion slots, buttons and LEDs, mainboard, vents, wires and switches are.

Choosing the right case to maximize the functionality and appearance of your unit can be a bit handful but it can also be rewarding. After all, every PC users strive hard to achieve a unit that is both high-end and eye candy.

Its completely black interior design makes it look elegantly. The price is just right for the extreme potential of this case. Quality:

The drive bays are designed for SSD drives. This case is probably good with a micro ATX mobo, couple of SSD drives and a DVD rewritable drive. The blue Led light is nice and does not distract at all even you are working at night and lights are off. This case is ideal to system builders who do custom building. It is not heavy, a lightweight case and everything is easy to install. Just be careful when screwing in your motherboard, the standoffs will strip the thread in the case if tightened too much. The side panels are secured with thumbscrews.

This case does not have a 120mm fan at the back unlike the VO2 and it does not have a place to mount a 120mm fan, just an 80mm fan. It has a 3.0 USB port but the cable it uses is not standard that most motherboards use. Vivo used a non-standard screw size for PCI cards.

Pros and Cons:

There is no instruction book included in the package as well as there is no actual manual on their website though there are tutorial video on YouTube. The material used is thin and weak. It is not an ideal case if you are using ATX mobo because it does not work well with that and it does not allow a second DVD/CD drive to be installed. It is a good case for builders that have strict budget.

The cable routing system helps your builds clean and dust filters are there to protect your case from dust. It has a tool-free installation of up to three 3.5 inches hard drives and two solid-state drives and you will get cable routing holes for neater-looking builds and better airflow.

The case is easy to install and is upgradeable. The dual front panel USB 3.0 connectors let you take advantage of the latest high-speed storage devices. The large side panel window lets you show it off. The 120mm front intake fan has soft LED lightning and it draw cool air directly to the graphic cards. If you want a higher airflow, you can add a second 120mm fan or even dual 140mm fans. Like all Corsair cases, the SPEC-02 is designed for great cooling system so you do not have to worry with overclocking or running multiple GPUs.

There are mounting points for up to six fans, including dual front 140mm or 120mm fans, dual 120mm fans on top, a bottom-mounted 120mm fan and a rear 120mm fan. In addition, a CPU cutout can be used for cooling upgrades without removing the motherboard. The front intake fan filters help keep dust out of the interior and the front panel has dual USB 3.0 ports for fast performance from USB flash drives and portable hard drives.

Design:

This unit has a product dimension of 19.7 x 8.6 x 16.9 inches and 12.6 pounds in weight. It has tons of fan mounts; two 140mm or 120mm fans in front, two 120mm on the top and one rear 120mm and 120mm at the bottom. It supports a two USB 3.0 in the front ports with internal connector.

The red LED 120mm fans in the front looks amazing. The case has cable routing system with generous gap in between the back panel and tray and has good cutouts for routing cables.

Quality:

It was a great budget case, absolutely looks good and constructed with quality. The power button is firm unlike other that is hard to press. The HDD mount looks flimsy however, it holds them firmly.

The case is very spacious; you can do a good cable management. Make sure to use a PSU that is not more than 6.50 long because you will not be able to install the bottom 120mm fan there since it is bigger. They just need to redesign the front cover for an easy access to the fans or the filter so that you do not need to take the whole cover off or remove the edge inside. Thumbscrews on the back of the panels are not the best quality.

Furthermore, it fits ATX and Micro ATX motherboards. The side window is prone to scratches so be careful because it is made of glass but other than that everything is fine as everything seems to be metal and is constructed very well.

Pros and Cons:

The mobo mounts high and can limit the ram height. The filters do not really block much of anything. When you add a second front fan, it looks will be a pain. The case has good airflow, good cord management and easy to install. The side window is tinted and overall quiet. The drive trays are very simple.
